In this post, I’ll walk you through my recent options trading activity over the last two weeks — a series of Sell to Open (STO) and Buy to Close (BTC) trades across several stocks including NVDA, HOOD, UNH, TSLL, RDDT, MSTX, SMCI , and TSLQ .
This week was all about premium collection , risk management , and strategic trade rolling . Let’s dive into the details and see how each trade contributed to the overall outcome.
Summary of Key Trades
In-Depth Trade Analysis
🔹 NVDA – NVIDIA Corporation
I had multiple transactions in NVDA , one of the most volatile tech names recently:
- Sold two different calls on 6/19 expiration at $20.98 and $20.15.
- Closed both earlier long-dated calls from 8/15 expiration at slightly reduced prices to lock in gains and reduce directional risk.
✅ Net Result : +$590.82
Strategy : Rolling out in time while collecting premium allowed me to manage volatility exposure effectively.
🔹 HOOD – Robinhood Markets Inc.
HOOD has been range-bound lately, making it ideal for short-term options plays.
- Bought back the 6/6 call at $12.38.
- Rolled forward to the 6/20 call at $12.83.
✅ Net Result : +$44.91
Strategy : Time decay advantage extended by rolling the position forward.
🔹 UNH – UnitedHealth Group
UNH is a large-cap, relatively stable stock that often offers solid premiums around earnings or key events.
- Sold the 6/6 $312.50 call at $5.00.
- Bought it back a few days later at $0.21.
✅ Net Result : +$478.91
Strategy : Quick scalp ahead of an event or price shift.
🔹 TSLL – Tesla Inc.
Tesla saw some early-week action with multiple entries and exits:
- Sold 3 contracts on 6/4 at $1.01 → +$302.86
- Bought them back on 6/5 at $0.25 → -$75.13
- Re-entered on 6/6 with 2 contracts at $0.28 → +$55.91
✅ Net Result : +$283.64
Strategy : Rapid-fire entries and exits based on price movement and volatility contraction.
🔹 RDDT – Reddit Inc.
- Sold the 6/13 $125 call at $1.65
✅ Net Result : +$164.95
Strategy : Collecting premium on a newer, speculative name with limited downside protection.
🔹 TSLQ – Tesla Short ETF
Small but consistent income play.
- Sold the 6/20 $25 call at $0.42
✅ Net Result : +$41.95
Strategy : Low-risk, low-reward trade to pad the portfolio.
🔹 MSTX – MicroStrategy Inc.
MSTX is known for its Bitcoin holdings and volatility.
- Sold a put on 5/28 at $1.06
- Bought it back on 6/3 at $0.10
✅ Net Result : +$95.91
Strategy : Collected premium expecting the stock to stay above strike.
🔹 SMCI – Super Micro Computer Inc.
SMCI is a major player in AI servers and data center infrastructure — a hot sector recently.
- Sold a put on 5/29 at $1.22
- Bought it back on 6/3 at $0.28
✅ Net Result : +$93.91
Strategy : Similar to MSTX — selling puts in anticipation of stability and strong support levels.
💰 Final Net Profit
After tallying up all the credits and debits:
That’s over $1,700 in net profit generated from short-term options strategies over a two-week period.
🧠Key Takeaways
- Premium Selling Works : Selling options can be a highly effective strategy when done selectively and with proper risk controls.
- Rolling Positions Helps : Moving positions forward in time allows traders to extend profitability and avoid assignment.
- Quick Exits Are Okay : Closing losing trades quickly helps preserve capital and focus on better opportunities.
- Diversification Matters : Trading across multiple assets reduces single-stock risk and increases opportunity flow.
- Timing Is Everything : Getting in and out at the right times, especially around events or volatility shifts, made a big difference.
🔚 Final Thoughts
This week’s trades highlight the power of disciplined options trading. By focusing on high-probability setups, managing risk, and strategically closing and re-entering positions, I was able to generate a strong return in a relatively short time.
As always, options trading isn’t just about picking winners — it's about managing risk , timing entries and exits , and leveraging volatility to your advantage.
Stay tuned for next week’s update!
